General rules
- Do not allow the driver to take the package without the labels attached to the box, or you will not be able to claim in the event of loss.
- Use a document pouch if possible
- Never cover the barcodes
Note: If you are fixing documents to the parcel with no document pouch, be sure to attach them in a way that they will be able to be viewed. First fold the label in half, then use strong packaging tape to affix each label.
How many labels will I need to print out?
- For UK or EU deliveries you will only have 1 label and a receipt. FedEx will give you 3 labels, 1 for your parcel and 2 for the driver.
- For international deliveries, you will be given 3 labels, 2 of them you must give to the courier and 1 must be fixed to the parcel. There will also be 5 copies of the customs invoice. 3 must be placed in your documents pouch, the other 2 must be handed over to the driver.
- You will also be given a shipping receipt, ask the courier to sign this, they do not have to but it is a good safety measure. This is your proof of shipping.
What’s on a label?
- A label has the recipient and sender address, reference number, date order was made, weight, bar codes, tracking number, route identifying code and service type
Pre-printed labels
- If you have selected a pre-printed service, your labels will be bought by the collecting driver, attach them to the parcel following the above information.
Haverhill
- If you are shipping outside of the UK, your label may be addressed to Haverhill. Haverhill is our depot and we take care of all additional paperwork there.
